Alas Kara!
Well it has been a few minutes since my last post so here is the latest. I talked with the wife and got a Kitchen Pass to raid this past Tuesday night. I went and read all the Strats for the Huntsman, Mores, Maiden of virtue, and the Opera events. I came home Tuesday and got all of my chores done I.E feed the kids get there homework done and get baths and teeth completed. Everything was ready to RAID for the first time since my Everquest days two plus years ago.
I Logged in and invites where handed out and we had a full ten man ready to go 30 minutes before scheduled raid time. Since I was the only KARA newb the trash pulls went smooth to Nightmare. I tanked Nightmare till DEAD one-shot! Then we worked on trash pulls to Mores. Everything went smooth and raid was glad to have Paly tank to AOE the mobs down. I off tanked mores and Protection warrior mob POW Dead one-shot! Everything was going smooth. No plate drops yet but I was having a blast actually contributing to the Raid and not being the NEWB. The pulls on the way to the Opera I made a pulling error and pulled a PACK of Elites. I hear NO!... and Raid goes into prepare to wipe mode. I consecrate and pick up the mess I made as best I can I lay out Seal of Light and Judgment of Light to take up and slack I would need on healing. I hear after we don’t wipe several comments on how well things went even to I made the mistake and how I was able AOE tank the whole lot of ‘em. No more mistakes and we get to Opera and we find it to be the Big Bad Wolf. The Raid leader goes over the strat and we engage. I got turned into the hood twice during the event and I helped heal the csmushies when they got turned into the hood and we one-shot the Wolf. The Plate Helm Drops! I figure nice a chance to get and upgrade since no one really looked like they wanted any previous gear that dropped earlier in the night. Wrong. Three plate classes to roll on the drop. Well I calmed down figured first run of Kara no big deal no gear for me. Wrong I rolled third and Won. I am now the Proud owner of the Eternium Greathelm!
We then turn our sights on the maiden. We go down there and One-Shot her as well! Over all a great night of raiding. I had a blast and appreciate the support of my wife and the raid to get to that point.
I went on to do my first successful Heroic Run of Steam Vaults. We had a Shadow Priest doing the heals so there where a few wipes since he was not use to having no Crowd Control (CC). Once we got into our rhythm we completed the whole place and the Boss still held onto his stupid Devil shark cape. I finished the night with my first 10 Badges of Justice and a new Helm I had a great night and got re-hooked on Raiding. Now to beg and pleased for another Kitchen Pass for next week!
